The craps game is played on a special craps table using two dice. Up to 16 players can play a craps game at one time. The player who rolls the dice is called the shooter.
At the start of a craps round, the players place the initial bets i.e. the pass line and don't pass lines bet. The first roll at the start of the craps game is called the "come-out roll". If the come-out roll turns up 7 or 11, then bets played on the "Pass line" win 1:1 and bets on the "Don't Pass line" lose. If the come-out roll is craps, I.e. 2, 3 or 12, then bets on the "Pass line" lose and the "Don't Pass line" wins.
And if the come out roll turns up a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, then a "point" is set on that number. After the first come-out roll, the player rolls the dice again and the game is played according to the dice score that comes up. If the second roll is the point, then the game ends. The "Pass line" bets win at even odds and the "Don't Pass line" bet loses.
If the dice roll is seven, then that game ends, the "Pass line" bet loses, and the "Don't Pass line" bet wins an equal amount as put in. If the dice roll is not the point rolled earlier and not a seven, then game moves on and the shooter rolls the dice again.
Hitting the point is the last stage of the craps game when the player, rolling the dice, shoots until the point score is reached again or till a seven is rolled. If a seven is rolled, then the bet made on the "don't pass" line wins. And if the point is rolled instead, then the pass line bet wins.
Craps Bets
Pass Line Bets: The pass line bet is placed on the pass line before the come out roll. A dice roll of a 7 or 11 is a win. A dice roll of 2, 3, or 12, is craps and the player loses. Any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) becomes the point. A player wins the pass line bet if the point is rolled before a 7 and loses the pass line bet, if a 7 is rolled before the point. The payout for pass line bet is 1:1.
Don’t Pass Line Bets: A don’t pass line bet is the opposite of a pass line bet, and is also placed before the come out roll. In a don’t pass line bet, the player wins on the come out roll if the dice roll craps 2 or 3, and on any other roll if it is 7. The player loses on the come out roll if it comes to be 7 or 11, and on any other roll if it is the point. The payout for don’t pass line bet is 1 to 1.
Odds Bets: An odds bet is a backup bet on a pass, don’t pass, come, and don’t come bet. A player is allowed maximum bet of three times his original bet.
